Adirondack Experiment

The Adirondack Experiment

2005

Acrylic, watercolor and ink on canvas
34x34in

This work was the first painting I created when I moved to the Adirondacks in 2004 and was also my first time experimenting with dry brushing. I simply set out to loosen up and make something totally different for me. Being inspired by my new mountainous surroundings in a new home with my love, I immediately saw the shapes of boulders and mountains, and in the foreground the hair and spine outlines of the two of us implied in the paint and merely filled in what was already there. This is by far the most abstract I have ever worked and one of my only paintings done in this combination of mediums.
